Event: HOW FAST? HOW LASTING? with Tom Campbell

You are invited to a workshop sharing of HOW FAST? HOW LASTING?, a result of Tom Campbell’s Know Thy Neighbour #4 residency with the City of Vincent.

Date: Sunday 15 November
Time: 3-5pm
Location:
The Spot, Unit 2/220 Carr Pl, Leederville

Event details:

The work has been developed through embodied training and research with the Boorloo street dance community, including members of Boorloo’s w_acking community, and research into how embodied movement could provide ways to circuit-break our experiences of tension in the body.

HOW FAST? HOW LASTING? connects with The Spot as a place where dancers come to train, compete, and learn with each other, and acknowledges the many lineages present in street dance. The work offers ways to engage with these forms of movement which might shift our relationship with the tension in our bodies, or make us more aware of the collisions that occur without seeking to eliminate them.

The project has been made with collaborator Shuling Wong and is a continuation of Tom’s work as a member of HOW TO DISAGREE/GUT FEELING, with artists Zora Pang and Jessica Tanto.

The showing will take place between 3-5pm which includes a 1 hour dance sharing session followed by a discussion and feedback session. Please note the workshop is appropriate for participants with no movement background and you are invited to let us know your access requirements beforehand.

Photography and videography may occur at this event.
