You are invited to Tarsh & Sue’s last open studio and the launch of the Scents of Beverley Smell Trail as part of their Circular Economies residency with Beverley Station Arts

Date: Saturday 4 April 2026
Studio Open: 9:30am-4pm
Smell Walk: 1.30pm-2.30pm
Location: Beverley Station Arts Gallery, Beverley

ABOUT EVENT

Scents are produced by and cycle through land, bodies, water, atmosphere and time. Sue and Tarsh ask how smells connect us to place and how those connections change when the smells change. They have spent their residencies in Ballardong Boodja / Beverley foraging smell stories from human and non-human community members and groups, exploring how smells connect them to this place.

Join them at 1.30pm to walk the Scents of Beverley Smell Trail and listen to smell stories told by locals whose labour nurtures Country in and around Beverley. The walk will take about 1 hour. Don’t forget your sun protection!

During the Open Studio, check out the archive of the scents Sue and Tarsh collected during their time in Beverley which they have donated to the Beverley Station Arts Collection. They will also present artworks in development for the CircularEconomies exhibition at PICA later this year.

Light refreshments will be provided throughout the day.

Sue & Tarsh invite you to reflect on your own smell stories and olfactory connections to place.

Sue & Tarsh acknowledge the Ballardong people of the Noongar Nation, Traditional Custodians of this unceded land. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and honour their continuing connection to Country. Always was, always will be.

This project is supported by Beverley Community Garden, Beverley River Care Group, Beverley Station Arts, Emerging Producer Rebecca Luck and SPACED.
