A Message from Elizabeth Pedler, Director of SPACED
To our dear friends, partners, artists, and collaborators,
SPACED connects people and place by supporting artists and communities to create context-driven, temporary public art. Since 1998, we’ve brought artists and communities together across Western Australia through long-term socially-engaged art residencies.
In 2025–26, SPACED is entering a new phase of growth and renewal. We’re expanding our programs across both metropolitan and regional WA, supporting more artists, deepening community partnerships, and building a stronger, more sustainable future for socially engaged art.
This year, SPACED 5: Circular Economies enters its second stage, with residencies unfolding in five regional locations thanks to our partnerships with Cannery Arts Centre, North Midlands Project, Shire of Carnarvon, Beverley Station Arts, and Arts Narrogin. The outcomes of these residencies will be presented at PICA in 2026.
We’ve also just launched a call for expressions of interest for Know Thy Neighbour #4, our metro-focused program supporting eight new projects by emerging artists across Perth. These projects will culminate in temporary public artworks throughout 2026–27.
As part of our professional development initiative OPEN SPACE, we’re connecting artists with local producers — creating employment and training opportunities for early-career arts workers, and expanding the impact of each residency.
As the new Director of SPACED, I invite you to join us on this exciting journey. Your support will help get these projects over the line. Your donation — whether big or small — will directly fund artists, producers, community events, and the shared creation of art that responds to place.
SPACED began as a sketch in the red dirt of Kellerberrin roadside, and has grown into a program that spans the state. We’re asking our audience, those who have followed and supported us over the years, to show your commitment by making a contribution today.
If you believe in the value of art that listens, connects, and responds, please consider making a tax-deductible donation to SPACED.
Thank you for your support.
Warmly,
Elizabeth Pedler
