OPEN SPACE: Circular Economies Emerging Producers at the WA Regional Visual Art Summit

OPEN SPACE: Emerging Producer Program participants from Circular Economies travelled to Perth to attend the WA Regional Visual Art Summit for the Regional Arts Triennial at John Curtin Gallery.

OPEN SPACE emerging producers Tymia Councillor (Carnamah), Rebecca Buglass (Beverley), Rochelle O’Brien (Carnarvon), sarsby (Esperance), Ned Crossley and Tom D’arcy (both Narrogin) joined SPACED Director, Elizabeth Pedler, for a weekend of talks, workshops and excursions. Each regional producer was employed to support our Circular Economies artists whilst on residency in locations around Western Australia, so SPACED was thrilled to also give back to them by supporting their travel and accomodation with help from Art On The Move.

OPEN SPACE is a program of mentoring and professional development which has been running since 1999. During this time, it has offered regional and metropolitan emerging arts-workers and producers opportunities to work in close contact with the SPACED team and experienced artists from all over the world.

In it's current form, OPEN SPACE: Emerging Producer Program began in partnership with UWA School of Design in 2024, SPACED have expanded OPEN SPACE to include paid training and professional development opportunities, including workshops targeted to enhance the skills and capabilities of our producers, delivered by UWA academic staff.

Travel and attendance to the Summit was made possible through the Regional Exhibition Touring Boost with support from the WA Government and delivered by ART ON THE MOVE.
