Know Thy Neighbour #3: Olga Cironis and Duncan Wright

Olga Cironis and Duncan Wright were collaborative partners in their Know Thy Neighbour #3 residency, working with the City of Armadale. The pair drew inspiration for their work from a series of staged encounters with residents of the Harrisdale and Piara Waters areas. Through media including written offerings, photographic exchanges, and intervention of the local newspaper, they collated a catalogue of ‘field research’ that observes how the community understand their place of dwelling.

An area that has been a recent focus for structural development within the broader context of Armadale, Harrisdale and Piara Waters sit within the tension of a transformation; a pastiche of the old and the new.

‘You can’t really explain it, you can only feel it’ represents the final iteration of these exchanges – an ode to the cultural essence of place, instilled with a hope that story and memory can prevail amidst an ever-changing landscape.

The Know Thy Neighbour #3 exhibition continues until March 25, with gallery opening hours Mon – Fri 9.30am – 5pm.
