Know Thy Neighbour #3 event: Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson and Asha Kiani present (our home) خونۀ ما

Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson is currently working with the Victoria Park Community Centre. This residency forms part of one of Spaced’s current programs, Know Thy Neighbour #3.

We’re pleased to share details of the first activity to take place as part of our Know Thy Neighbour #3 program: (our home) خونۀ ما is a video art/live performance between artists Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson and Asha Kiani, developed during Eshraghian-Haakansson’s ongoing residency at the Victoria Park Community Centre. This work was built around the consultation and collaboration with creative arts therapist Cara Phillips and the St. Mary’s Outreach Service.

Through poetic conversation developed between the artists, the duo unearth the deep complexities felt in the experience of home/less/ness felt by the community of Victoria Park.

Registration is essential via the following links:

April 2, 6.30pm – Performance and Film Screening

April 16, 6.30pm – Film Screening (second showing)

The events form a segment of the Vic Park Arts Season 2022, and will give you an opportunity to preview Eshraghian-Haakansson’s creative response while her residency is still in progress.

Elham Eshraghian-Haakansson (b. Boorloo, Perth, 1996) is an award-winning Iranian Australian Bahá'í video artist, researcher, and has exhibited nationally and internationally. Her research navigates the sharing of stories, understanding its essential role in healing and mental wellbeing in response to traumatic contexts.

This event is part of Elham’s residency with the Victoria Park Community Centre. All are welcome!

Artwork by Sholeh Pirmorady. A floral persian patterning, called Tahzib is arranged as two halves meeting at the centre, on textured tea-stained paper.
